Given the importance of romantic and dating relationships during adolescence, the purpose of the study was to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Dating Anxiety Scale for Adolescents DAS-A. Factor analysis of the DAS-A yielded a 3-factor solution with acceptable internal consistencies: fear of negative evaluation in dating situations FNE-Dating ; social distress when interacting with real or potential dating partners SD-Date ; and social distress when in a group of mixed-sex peers SD-Group. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the 3-factor solution. Results indicated that younger adolescents reported more dating anxiety than older adolescents, and boys reported more SD-Group than girls. Dating anxiety was associated with peer-related anxiety and depressive symptoms and was a significant predictor of adolescents’ current and usual dating status, even when controlling for adolescents’ peer-related social anxiety. The findings provide support for the reliability and validity of the DAS-A. Clinical and research implications are discussed. Shaw, K. Fitness , E. Elder, Breast Cancer Network Australia. Objective: Many un-partnered women report difficulty in forming romantic relationships after breast cancer, characterized by high dating-related anxiety and low perceived interpersonal competence. This study examined the relationship between poor body image appearance investment and body dissatisfaction and self-compassion, and women’s ability to form romantic relationships post-breast cancer.
Multiple regression analyses assessed the relationships between these variables. Results: Partnered and un-partnered women differed in levels of dating anxiety, interpersonal competence, anxious attachment, and the self-evaluative salience facet of appearance investment. Analyses revealed a significant model for dating anxiety, with high self-evaluative salience, body image dissatisfaction, and attachment avoidance independently associated with this outcome.

The psychological difficulties encountered by patients with prostate cancer are widely known. There are, however, problems in the identification of certain disorders that require appropriate psychological management. In order to diagnose patients with anxiety more finely, a prostate cancer-specific anxiety measurement scale MAX-PC was developed and validated.
This scale includes three sub-dimensions: anxiety related to prostate cancer, anxiety related to the PSA assessment and fear of recurrence. This scale generally has good psychometric properties which are found in different populations and in different countries. The dimensions of the MAX-PC correlate with other anxiety measurement scales such as Beck or HADS, but do not show redundancy: it captures a specific anxiety related to the experience of patients with prostate cancer.
To date, this sclae is not validated in French, and its use in the frame of clinical trials or in routine practice require a first validation. The total score of the scale ranges from 0 to 54, with 54 indicating maximum anxiety. Scores of the Prostate anxiety scale range from 0 to 33 ; with 33 indicating maximum anxiety. Scores of the PSA anxiety scale range from 0 to 9 ; with 9 indicating maximum anxiety.

The current study was conducted by using a cross-sectional survey method on one hundred and thirty-two 69 female; 63 male participants who were about to go through the dental extraction procedure. A modified version of the MDAS was used in the current study.
The questions of the original MDAS were replaced by specific questions about the dental extraction procedure, accompanied by five Likert-type answers. The current scale was proven to be valid and reliable to be used as a specific scale to measure dental anxiety due to dental extraction. It is still in use today, being considered one of the most widely used rating scales, and has been translated into Cantonese, French and Spanish. It has been used as a benchmark for more recently devised scales [ 2—4 ]. One year later, Hamilton also published a similar scale for depressive symptoms [ 5 ]. The HAM-A is a clinician-based questionnaire; however, being available in the public domain, it has been employed as a self-scored survey.
As to efficacy, although it is still often used in clinical research trials both of medication and psychological interventions , it has been criticized [ 6 ] for its apparent inaccuracy in discriminating between anxiolytic or antidepressant effects, and between somatic anxiety compared to side-effects—thus, the authors concluded that it was of limited usage in the evaluation of anxiolytics. Maier et al. More recently [ 7 ], it has been pointed out that the way clinicians assess symptom severity may reduce the reliability of the original semistructured assessment.
Therefore, a structured interview guide the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale Interview Guide HARS-IG , standardizing the interview questions was developed and evaluated by joint interview and test—retest in 30 inpatients. How does this relate to occupational practice? The research applications are more evident: it has been used in a number of occupational health-related studies [ 8 ] and to measure the efficacy of occupational therapy.
